Rollbook Procedures

The Rollbook is a legal document used by teachers for recording attendance data required for proper operation of District Secondary Schools.

 

The teacher shall record attendance daily.  This responsibility may not be delegated to a student or aide.

 

All attendance data, beginning with the first day of semester, must be retained in the rollbook.  If temporary roll sheets are used, all attendance data should be transferred to the permanent Rollbook or the temporary roll sheets may be stapled inside the permanent Rollbook.

 

Rollbook Corrections: When a correction needs to be in reporting attendance, use the following procedure.

a.     Do Not erase, use Òwhite outÓ, or use highlighter.

b.     Circle all corrections and initial

c.     When changing an absent mark to a tardy, add a vertical line.  Circle corrections and initial.

d.     Mark ÒAÓ when a student is marked absent from your class, but was on a field trip, school activity, or in a school office.

+.         Absence verified # 1 Appointment (illness, doctor/dentist appointment. etc.)

 

2               Absence verified # 2 Non-appointment (Personal, non-illness)

 

3               Absence verified # 3 Truancy ( absent without permission)

 

4               Absence verified # 4 Suspension

 

5               Absence verified # 5 Religious observance, Court Appearance

 

A         Absence caused by school activity
