Title I:
Bell High School is a school wide Title I school which means more than 95% of the students are on a free or reduced lunch program. The purpose of Title I is to enable schools in socio-economically disadvantaged areas to provide opportunities for children to acquire the knowledge and skills of the stateÕs challenging content and student performance standards.

There are nine parts to which Title I funds may be directed:

The Title I program provides enrichment through:
á Tutoring and Saturday School
á Teacher Assistants in the Classroom
á Instructional Materials
English Language Learners
(ELL)
The ESL/English Learner Program
offers services to students whose first language is not English and who are not
proficient in English. The
services offered enable English Learners to develop language, literacy, and
academic skills in order to achieve in their academic courses. Eligible students are provided with
educational experiences that will prepare them to live and function effectively
in a divers society.
All teachers must be authorized
to teach English Learners, you must have a CLAD, BCLAD, or have passed the
CTEL. If you have any questions
you may speak to the EL coordinator, Oscar Horta in room 125.
